One of my favorite vacation destinations is Italy. This country's national banner features three vertical pales in the colors green, white and red. During my early years, I lived in the Netherlands. My parents and I traveled to all kinds of countries, cities and towns in different parts of Europe. Now, the national flag of "Italia" is a very fitting representation of this unique country. It is hoisted on flag poles throughout the republic.
Italy is officially called the "Democratic Republic of Italy" and borders different countries in Europe, including France (to the west) and Austria (to the north). The city of Rome is the republic's famous and well known capital city, and has been the political centre of different civilizations for a good number of centuries.
The country counts a good number of national parks that cover about 5 percent of the Italian territory. During the last few years, Italy has become a great resource for green energy. In fact, the republic is ranked fifth in terms of being the largest producer of solar energy alone. Having said that, different cities and towns have had pollution and smog issues, like really any other European country.
Those that have traveled Italy have very likely enjoyed the Mediterranean climate along the stretches of coastline. However, and depending on location, northern parts of Italy experience a climate that is known to be humid and temperate. Harsh winters and hot summers are not exceptional to this particular region.
Italy is considered a founding member of the EC or European Community, which is called the European Union today. Also, Italy has been an active member of NATO. Italy's armed forces have joined various allied conflicts throughout the world, past and present.
Interestingly, the president of the Italian republic also hoists his respective ensign from presidential flag poles. His official standard is based on the square banner of the so-called Napoleonic Italian Republic. This standard displays a blue colored field, and a coat of arms with mainly gold colored elements. The ensign used to display a solid blue colored field only.
Olive and oak branches, symbolizing peace and strength, enclose the state arms. The star represents the state, and the cogwheel stands for labor. As explained in this article, the elements found on the different ensigns have fascinating meaning. Banners and flags are commonly manufactured from quality materials. This also applies to international flags for sale.
