National Crisis Demands an Honest Reckoning

It's time to clear up a few little details regarding who works for whom in this country. One minor point concerns just exactly where the government got the power to dispense with our Constitutional rights as Americans. I've read the Constitution several times since I was in high school, and seem to have missed a great many points. Points such as where the Constitution says that the government can set up secret courts operating free of observation by the people. Where does it say that the government can run secret wiretaps on citizens, have financial institutions turn over our personal data to Federal gestapo-like secret agents, monitor all of our correspondence and communications of all types, and place each of us in the position of a criminal suspect? Military tribunals? Torture camps located outside our physical borders? I always thought government and military personnel had to act according to American law wherever they operated? Construction of concentration camps to hold American CITIZENS? The indignity of intrusive searches and electronic nakedness by government cretins barely half a step up from Zombies? American citizens held for years in military prisons without trial?

Actually, citizens don't even know everything the government CAN do to us because not even our representatives were allowed to read dictatorial laws before voting on them. What about a presidential candidate promising us to repeal the unconstitutional legislation, then renewing it? What about the fact that we don't really have any idea of what the government can do to us in secret because it's SECRET? Did our Founding Fathers attach secret pages to the Constitution unavailable to regular citizens (scratch that, substitute "taxpayers") allowing the Government to do anything to us it pleases? And to digress, why is the revenue collecting system a criminal operation? Free countries like Switzerland consider taxation a civil matter to be resolved between citizens (the real kind, not the semi-prisoner kind in the U.S.) and government representatives (the real kind, not the ignorant, rude, abusive, power-tripping former KGB thugs common in the U.S.).

Actually, I don't know enough about the secret laws and operations in this country to ask intelligent questions because "secret" means, uh, secret. So let's focus on some illegal government actions that I do know about.

But first, let's make something perfectly clear to our government. I mean REALLY clear. We KNOW who did 9/11. It was NOT some crazy Islamic radicals. Osama binLaden had NOTHING to do with it. We KNOW that because he was in an American hospital in Pakistan at the time. Iraq had NOTHING to do with it. Neither did AFGHANISTAN. There were NO crazies with box cutters. We know that because there were NO hijackers on board any of the flights. Also, there were no PILOTS on board either. The planes were REMOTE CONTROLLED from American stations on the ground. There were no PHONE CALLS, either. They wouldn't operate under flight conditions. Building seven did not collapse from FIRES from either of the towers. It collapsed from controlled munitions charges set by our ALLIES. The two towers did not collapse from MELTING STEEL, either. The steel used melts at about one THOUSAND degrees higher then jet fuel burns. They also collapsed from CONTROLLED CHARGES set by our allies. The Pentagon was NOT hit by a Boeing 757 or whatever. A BROWNIE SCOUT could tell that. It had to be some kind of ROCKET. All of these statements are in the public domain on the Internet, in books, and on DVD's. Thousands of people have seen the evidence. So it's high time to cancel the Patriot Act BS and get on with our lives.

Let us return to the subject. To start with, why does the government think it can force young Americans to fight and die in countries most of us have never heard of and for reasons they don't understand, when my copy of the Constitution says in the Thirteenth Amendment, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or anyplace subject to their jurisdiction?" To competent English speakers, that clearly rules out a draft of any kind under any circumstances. But the Supreme Court says that's NOT what it says. Lawyers and economists work under the Hallowed Creed, which states, "Allow me a few ridiculous assumptions and I can prove anything." The statement in the Constitution that involuntary servitude cannot exist in the United States does not actually mean that involuntary servitude cannot exist in the United States. It REALLY means that the government can draft anyone it wants for as long as it wants and send them anywhere it wants.

There are currently congressmen talking about renewing the draft. We should tell them that we will consider renewing the draft just as soon as they, their spouse (past and present), their lover (s), and all of their children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces enlist in the army, preferably the bloody infantry. If their grandchildren, nephews, and nieces are not yet old enough to enlist, than things will just have to wait until they are.

Related to this, what's left of the Constitution clearly says that only Congress can declare war. This very clearly implies that the United States shall engage in war only when Congress has approved the engaging in war. However, ever since Truman, presidents have waged war at their whim, demanding that Congress supply the necessary funding. I've read the convoluted reasoning of John Yoo that the president has the right to do this, not withstanding the clear intent of the Framers. Only the fact that Yoo went to Harvard and Yale can explain why, to him black is really white, and that white is really black. We the people must disabuse present and future presidents of this Alice in Wonderland convoluted reasoning, and demand a Congressional declaration of war against a specific country for a specific infraction by that country, do "whatever it takes" to win the war promptly, shoot on sight rather than try decide on the enemy's psychological state of mind, and bring ALL of the troops home just as soon as the enemy surrenders. For every citizen soldier killed in combat, one Senator or Congressman will be executed. We must make it abundantly clear that wars are only permitted against countries and not concepts such as terrorism, communism, democracy, polygamy, polyandry, saving bananas, or any other reason to risk our citizens' lives.

ALL government employees from the president down must undergo remedial training stressing the fact that they are in their positions to serve the public and enforce the laws, meaning ALL Laws, not just those they agree with. If a law seems unreasonable, rather than ignore it, they must enforce it anyway or get it removed. The Constitution does not say anywhere that the president and congress can pick and choose which laws to enforce (I've checked). This means that the president must interrupt his campaigning for incompetents and secure our borders as the law states. No where does the Constitution allow the government to pick and choose which laws it will enforce, which eliminates "signing statements." Further, the president cannot do by executive order what Congress cannot do by law. The new rule is "Enforce it or dump it."

The presidency and congress are the only jobs I know of that have virtually no job requirements other than citizenship (which seems to be a very difficult concept to understand), age, and the financial ability to buy votes. We the people must demand that before a person can serve as president, a congressman or senator, or a Federal judge at any level, he or she must pass a test developed by impartial experts. This test would address the rules of fundamental logic and reasoning, non-Keynesian or Neo - Keynesian economics such as Austrian economics, the basics of American and world history along with the related geography, the fundamentals of warfare (the president is, after all, the Commander in Chief) and Congress should understand the repercussions of declaring war, a basic understanding of the Constitution at the high school level, and elementary philosophy and logic sufficient to allow them to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil. Psychiatric screening should ensure that they are free from harmful levels of narcissism, power lust, delusions of grandeur, beliefs in their own divinity, and pederasty. They should also be required to join Debtors Anonymous. They must swear on the Bible, the Old Testament, the Koran, the sacred texts of Buddhism, Confusianism, Taoism, Satanism or Mad Magazine, that they will never raise taxes higher than the sum total of spending by the European Union, the Non-Aligned Nations, Russia, China, South Korea, Japan, Latin America, The Muslem oil producing countries, the Muslem Southeast Asia nations, and Emelda Marcos. As a symbolic gesture, the Commander in Chief would be taken to the closest military firing range and fire a military rifle.

We must ban recess appointments. There is so much redundancy and duplication in our government that a slightly prolonged vacancy would probably not even be noticed. The only real problem attached to such vacancies involves who will get to filch any artwork or desirable furniture from the empty office. Actually, this discussion just led to some real breakthrough thinking. For a period of at least two years, every other time a vacancy occurs, let's leave it unfilled. Then at the end of the two years we can check to see if anyone has noticed the vacancy. Actually, since we already know the outcome, let's just fill one vacancy out of every three. Then one out of.......

Another one of my recommendations for better government would probably lead to a significant improvement in public performance. Let's put all senators and congressmen on half pay to stay at home, travel with his boyfriend, whatever, and pick people at random from the voter roles to serve in place of the (thankfully) missing public enemies, also at half pay. At the end of a year we would probably have very much fewer laws because the "temporary" help would recognize that the benefit of pawing through existing laws and eliminating all those that spent too much money, funded only projects that no longer existed, funded programs supporting our sworn enemies, were incomprehensible to anyone having passed high school English, were over twenty pages long, or that did not have a "sunset" provision. An alternative would only require listing the laws in some form or order, then canceling every other one. Do you think anyone would notice? It would prove very beneficial to the country at large, despite the ten years or so it would take to complete.

Depending on the results of our investigation, we could cut the pay of the "official" legislators and give the remainder to the "public" workers, or, if we allowed the official lawmakers back into the halls of government, we could simply revise the rules so that no congressman or senator could propose bills that would benefit his or her state or district. Obviously, this would just lead to the practice of legislators convincing a comrade (in the Maoist sense of the word) to propose the spending bill for him since he couldn't propose it him or her self. We would outfox them by cutting in half any appropriations to the district or state of the shyster actually proposing the spending for his comrade.

In fairness, we would also have to direct our attention to the Commander in Theft. As a start we could require that all green fees be paid with non-government funds. Then we could limit rentals of golf carts to only six day per week. Next we could put a strict limit on the number of bills he or she could sign in any one year, not allowing any combining of bills. Next we could require that the CIT spend three weeks of each month visiting heads of foreign governments regarding problems of no particular importance.

Allied to this we could place some standards on any media personalities writing or talking about how BRILLIANT our CIT is. We could require them to give actual examples, performed in front of disinterested observers present when the CIT displayed this brilliance as confirmation.

Unfortunately, in order to shift the blame for any blunders or Unplanned Media Events (natural disasters) from themselves to the previous Commander In Thief, CITs often claim the TOGDI defense (the other guy did it). The TOGDI defense would be valid for only one term. If a particular CIT proved exceptionally ineffective at getting spending programs passed, encroaching on other peoples' wars, or disrupting the domestic economy, the two term limit law could be waved indefinitely.

One other idea for improving government especially appeals to me. Despite the initial cost, we could move the permanent seat of government from Washington, D.C., to Beaverville, in northern North Dakota, and shut down Washington operations. This would guarantee that only the most dedicated patriots would run for national office, and justify the relocation costs in short order.
