It's just happens that many of us believe that number 7 is a lucky, magical and powerful number. On the contrary, number 13 is considered to be unluckiest of all which is coincidently backed up by the UK National lottery draws - so far number 13 is one of the less frequent numbers ever drawn!
For many people, beliefs like these are reflected in the way the lottery combinations are selected.
Camelot, the UK National Lottery official draw operator, no longer publishes a list of most commonly played combinations as it used to, however when it did, combinations with all numbers divisible by 7 were present in such lists.
Unlike the Irish lottery, where all six numbers have to be selected from the pool of 45, the UK National Lottery has 49 numbers to choose from, meaning that there are 7 numbers that are divisible by 7, namely 7;14;21;28;35;42 and 49. Since the inception of the UK National lottery, there were only 2 combinations containing 4 numbers divisible by 7, and none containing 5 or 6 of such numbers.
Out of these 7 numbers, 7 different combinations can be made as follows (p.s. wow, 7 numbers divisible by 7 that make up 7 lottery combinations - that's gotta be a lot of luck!):
1. 07;14;21;28;35;42
2. 07;14;21;28;35;49
3. 07;14;21;28;42;49
4. 07;14;21;35;42;49
5. 07;14;28;35;42;49
6. 07;21;28;35;41;49
7. 14;21;28;35;42;49
Note that as far as the Irish Lotto is concerned, the first combination is the only possible combination whereby all numbers are divisible by 7. If you participate in the Irish lottery, do NOT select this combination. It will be played by far too many people! If this combination does win, the jackpot would be split into so many slices that individual prize share would be incredibly low!
As for the UK National lottery, we are now going to take a guess which one of these 7 combinations is played most commonly.
It is true to say that many people tend to play numbers relating to dates that have some significance/importance to them (birthdays, anniversaries, deaths(!) etc) and as you know our calendar month contains a maximum of 31 days. Based on that, numbers 7;14;21;28 are probably paired most commonly. So that leaves us with combinations 1,2 and 3 above.
49 is 7 times 7 and is considered by some to have double magic powers. Sounds silly? Believe us, it's true. 42 is "the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" which could be the reason for people to play it. Some people, however, who like to lead a simple life and select a straightforward combinations (like 1;2;3;4;5;6), will select combination 1 above as it contains the very first 7 numbers divisible by 7. All in all, the guess is that the first 3 combinations are probably played most commonly, with possibly 7;14;21;28;35;42 running slightly ahead of others.
Whichever one out of these 7 combinations is played most frequently does not really matter. What matters is the fact that each combination is played by many. Ok, maybe combination 6 above is played less frequently than combination 1, but it is still played by far too many people. Whatever combination you choose to play, do not select any of the above, as they are not random! If they do come up, there will be too many jackpot winners! Your share of winnings may be calculated in hundreds, rather than thousands or millions!
There is no reason why you should not play a combination consisting of two or three numbers divisible by 7. Just make sure that you select other numbers randomly. The more random your combination appears to be, the less likely it will be chosen by others.
You can check how random your combination appears to be by running it through Lottorino Scoring Engine. Lottorino consults many filters when checking your combination for various patterns (including the division by 7 rule). The lower the Lottorino score of your combination, the more biased or non-random your combination appears to be.
