Elevated Blood Sugar Causes Progressive Problems

Typically, a physical at your doctor's office will include a fasting blood test. If your results come back in the 110-120 range, you are generally told that it is a little high, but not too much of a concern - you do not have pre-diabetes or diabetes yet.

Unfortunately for you, damage is already occurring in your system at levels well below what is being recognized as a pre-disease or disease state such as diabetes. The following is to help you see what is actually occurring, and why you need to take a more thorough look at your blood sugar level. Keep in mind that all of the following are occurring while you are perhaps being told your glucose levels are not a problem.

Clinical studies and autopsies show damage occurs much earlier than anyone thought - at 100 mg/dl. Elevated blood sugar levels cause a unique set of problems that affect the entire body. To understand the complications of this, and how soon problems begin occurring, we need to review a general understanding of the hormone insulin.

Understanding Insulin & Glucagon's Role in the Body

The goal for your body is to keep blood sugar levels in a narrow range regardless of what you eat.....processed foods, donuts, fruits, etc. For most people this is normally between 70 and 110. The doctor's lab range usually shows it as 65 to 99. That is not really a lot of sugar in your bloodstream. For a person that weighs about 150 pounds, we are talking about less than 1/6th of an ounce. Fasting blood sugar should be about 80 to 85. (A Glucose Tolerance test is a better indicator and should not exceed 120 at two hours; however, medical offices rarely perform this test due to time and costs.)

Thanks to the pancreas, you body is equipped with a very effective system for maintaining this narrow range. When you eat a meal high in sugar (this can be carbohydrates not just sugar) and blood sugar levels rise, the pancreas (specifically the Beta Cells in the area of pancreas called the Islets of Langerhans) quickly release the hormone insulin. (Your body knows it has to keep blood sugar in balance so this occurs with extraordinary speed). The bloodstream quickly carries the insulin to all the cells in the body where the insulin triggers receptor sites on the cell walls, thus allowing the sugar to pass into the cell to be converted to energy.

If you eat more sugar then is needed for energy, it is stored as glycogen mostly in the liver but some is also stored in the muscles.

Once blood sugar levels are in normal range, the Beta Cells stop the production of insulin as the levels have been stabilized.

If your blood sugar starts to drop, the Alpha Cells from your pancreas release the other pancreatic hormone, glucagon, which triggers the release of the stored sugar (glycogen) from your liver and muscles, thus raising the blood sugar. The term "carb-loading" used by long distance runners and tri-athletes, refers their tying to fill their liver and muscles with this stored sugar, glycogen, for energy.

So far, everything is working fine in the body; however, at some point for various reasons (some of which are listed below), the insulin does not so easily pass through the cell walls causing the Beta Cells to have to increase the production of insulin, bombarding the cells to try to get the sugar into them for energy and balancing the blood sugar levels.

Following are the top reasons for cell walls and receptor cells not allowing insulin to cause the passage of sugar into the cells - with the first two being the most common:

Too much sugar and carbs in the diet for a prolonged period of time requiring too much insulin release which can damage the receptor cells. (Diabetes was not much of an issue until processed and refined foods entered the national diet.)
Too much transfat and saturated fat which can coat the cells, interfering with the insulin effectiveness. (Transfats have now been outlawed in restaurants in some states, but they are still in many foods). Again, Diabetes was not much of an issue until transfats, specifically margarine, were introduced into the national diet.
Lack of the 46 essential nutrients that cells much have to properly function as designed. These nutrients must come from the food you eat or the supplements you take. Deficits in any of the 46 essentials can cause a disease state in the body. (The SONA vitamin line by Enerex USA is the best on the market).
Genes that help regulate insulin may be damaged from toxins, metals, heredity, or other factors.
Prolonged periods of stress - stress shuts down insulin, which causes blood levels to spike to make energy more available in times of need. The insulin production then spikes to bring the elevated sugar levels back down to normal.

As a result of this cell receptor issue, the cells in the body start to become resistant to the insulin being produced. Insulin levels must then be continually increased to force the sugar into the cells. This is the beginning of some other problems.

If fat cells develop insulin resistance, they release triglycerides into the blood stream. And what are triglycerides made of...glucose (sugar), fatty acids, and water. So the free fatty acid levels rise in your bloodstream which is one of the warning signals of the Metabolic Syndrome (Increased risk for heart disease). Did you ever consider that the fatty acid problem in your bloodstream could be related to too much blood sugar?
The increased insulin resistance in the liver and muscle cells means that they no longer store as much glucose, which again means that more sugar is in the bloodstream.
Slightly elevated blood sugar levels (over 100) is the point where some of the Beta Cells begin to be damaged. Blood sugar over 110 causes damage to your retina.
As your blood sugar continues to rise your pancreas goes into overdrive to produce more insulin in an attempt to bring your blood sugar back into balance and the more it stays at an elevated level the more Beta Cells get damaged (burnt out). By the time you are called a diabetic you may have lost 40% of your Beta Cells. You must deal with blood sugar issues while they are still reversible.

So now the body is in a position of having higher than normal blood sugar, plus higher then normal insulin levels. Both of these cause the problems listed below - and yet you are still not classified as having Diabetes since these conditions are occurring with blood sugar levels under 140, before you even have Pre-diabetes.

Elevated insulin is tied to the following:

Impaired fat burning, causing weight gain and the accumulation and storage of fat;
Damage to the kidneys;
Damage to the arterials walls causing atherosclerosis;
Increase in cholesterol and triglyceride levels;
High Blood pressure and heart disease;
Depletion of essential nutrients, causing vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Elevated insulin will last in the body as long as the sugar remains too high and as long as you have enough functioning Beta Cells to produce the insulin. The production will slow over time as the Beta Cells are damaged or become dormant.

Elevated blood sugar results in a cascading effect within the body. Since your body knows that elevated blood sugar causes severe damage to organs, it tries to minimize the damage by taking defensive action. As sugar rises the small blood vessels start to narrow, reducing the flow of sugar getting to the organs. The higher the blood sugar, the more the blood vessels narrow. Unfortunately this impairs circulation, and reduces the amount of nutrients and oxygen that get to the organs and nerves of the body, as well as their ability to carry away cellular waste. This begins to damage cells in the small nerves of the hands and feet (why you might have tingling, pain, or cold hands and feet). The kidneys and other organs begin to show some damage as well. As much as 40% of your Beta Cells can be destroyed in as little as two years with elevated blood sugar before you are deemed a Diabetic.

With less blood flow, wounds do not heal as well and infections may become an issue. The sugar also sticks to the proteins that are needed for construction of quality collagen, essential for the repair and building of cells.

Now there is a cycle occurring where the body is having a very difficult time balancing blood sugar. Damage is occurring to not only the pancreas, which is responsible for balancing the blood sugar, but also to major organs and your nervous system. Unless you mange your blood sugar, the cycle will continue with more damage and more Beta Cells destroyed - until you finally reach the 200 mg/dl blood sugar level and are then labeled a diabetic. Of course, the fact that you insurance rates and medical costs will skyrocket, or worse, you may not even qualify for insurance, may be the least of your worries.

Those who finally develop full blown Diabetes have severe complications and will experience a shorter life span that may include severe pain. You can also expect to dramatically increase your risk of one or more of the following:

amputation
blindness
kidney failure and possible need for a dialysis machine
heart disease and hardening of the arteries
premature death

This disease is already epidemic: 40% of people over 20 years old have some degree of blood sugar problems or glucose intolerance; 75% of the elderly have the problem; one in every three of our school children is expected to develop full diabetes, and based on current ratios, that means nearly all of them will develop glucose intolerance.

Do you really want to experience a life of pain and diminished capabilities? Yes, the medical world can keep you alive with drugs - but what kind of life is that?

Be smart. Start taking care of yourself now with exercise and better diet to help metabolize the blood sugar. Take Diabetes Defense to help you with blood sugar and fat metabolism.

Don't wait. Start a new program for better health today.

Problems In Managing Government Publications In Academic Libraries In Sierra Leone

INTRODUCTION

In Sierra Leone the terms 'official publications', official documents', and 'public documents' are synonymous with government publications. Government publications, simply put, are documents created by government and local and quasi-government bodies explaining and integrating views and polices. They represent the historical and current development authorities of government and provide data on a wide variety of subjects to include Political Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Labor, Industry, History, International Relations, Agriculture, Geology and Meteorology. Katz (1997) classed these publications into: (1) records of government administration (2).research documents for specialists including a considerable number of statistics and data of value to science and business (3).popular sources of information. Their physical form being either a book, pamphlet, magazine, report monograph or electronic, especially CD-ROM (p.387).

Bibliographic control in many parts of the world is seemingly unsatisfactory due largely to lack of awareness of the importance of bibliographic tools in research in government publications. The United States of America, for example, was for a long time a pioneer in this field. As far back as 1895 the Printing Act of January 12 of that year (28 statute, 601-624) not only established centralized printing and distribution of federal documents but also instructed the Superintendent of Documents to provide appropriate tools for bibliographic control of the documents published. Great Britain is an outstanding exception for as far back as 1807 collections of parliamentary papers were printed. Countries such as Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, Germany and Japan began separating government document bibliographies mainly in the 1920s and 1930s (Palic,1975). However a great need for the use of government publications was felt following World War 11 (1939-1945), when there was an increased interest in the authoritative information contained in such publications as posited by child's (1942) in his introductory notes that 'more and more the importance of government documentation is being recognized despite the refractory nature of some of these materials'

In parallel the emphasis made on the usefulness of government publications in Sierra Leone is associated with the development of printing which can be traced as far back as the founding of the Colony of Sierra Leone in 1787. Although the industry didn't survive the French attack of 1794 the foundation stone of what later became known as the Government Printing Department was laid in 1925 when it was charged with the production of small notices for official use. Currently the Department prints all government publications and supplies stationery and office equipment of government departments. It also undertakes a fair amount of commercial printing as income generating measures.

Government publications usually have the advantage of being among the best in their subject fields often not easily available to others (Smith, 1993). In lieu of the extent and complexity of government activities there is a need for the widespread dissemination of information about these activities and for popular integration of government policy. No wonder why government publications have special value to academic library collections and their authority is permanent. In academic libraries in Sierra Leone these publications are put aside into a special collection manned by a curator as at Fourah Bay College Library. Some are kept in vertical files; others are placed in pamphlet boxes, while those like maps and surveys are given specialized storage. These publications are acquired mainly by purchase, deposit, donation, exchange and photocopying. The Government Printing Department is responsible for their publication

DIVISIONS OF GOVERNMENT AND THEIR PUBLICATIONS

The expansion of government in Sierra Leone's post-war reconstruction era at local, national and international levels has resulted in increasing her influence on the life of the citizenry. Simultaneously with this expansion is the proliferation of official and semi official agencies, commissions and bureaus which continue to publish works such as directories, regulations, reports, bills, Acts and technical literature which many a researchers, educators, public service functionaries, welfare recipients and the unemployed can not do without reference to such publications. Since librarians serve as interface between users and government they have for long recognized the problems which such a plethora of collection can pose and have been making tremendous strides to address the issue. The essence here is to provide systematic controls to avoid the disappearance, into oblivion, of essential official publications.

In Sierra Leone government publications fall within three general classes: Executive, Legislative ands Judicial. The Executive publications include those issued by the Offices of the President and the Vice President, and various independent offices and establishments such as National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), National Revenue Authority (NRA), Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), National Commission for Privatization (NCP) and the Office of the Ombudsman. Also included are government ministries such as the Ministries of defense; Education, Youth and Sports; Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation; Tourism and Cultural Affairs; Local Government and Community Development; Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security; Trade and Industry; Internal Affairs; labor and Industrial Relations; and Development and Economic Planning.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry, for example, is responsible for both internal and international trade and the promotion of exports. It has powers over customs and excise, tariffs, insurance, patents, trademarks, standards, weights and measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is responsible for Sierra Leone's relationship with foreign and Commonwealth countries while the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security is responsible for administrating government policy on agriculture, horticulture and food security. This Ministry offers practical guidance to farmers, commercial producers of horticultural crops and research. The Ministry of Internal Affairs deals with the maintenance of law and order, the Police and Fire Forces, administration of the prisons and the treatment of offenders. Other miscellaneous matters dealt with by this ministry include explosives, firearms, dangerous drugs, prisons, shops, public safety, entertainment, cremation, bylaws and good rule and formal business. The aforementioned functions and similar ones carried out by other ministries require the creation and maintenance of publications. There is also documentation of press briefings given by the varied heads of ministries and newsletters, which are channels for respective ministries there-by making them more public-relations conscious.

Legislative publications include the records and debates of Parliament and the reports of hearings of the varied Parliamentary Committees. Included here also are multiple policy statements in reply to parliamentary questions. The Hansard is another rich source for public matters as it provides official information and views about parliamentary debates.

Publications from the Judiciary branch of government consist mostly of reports of government decisions by the Magistrate, Appeals and Supreme Courts. Found in this arm of government are law books, 'annual registers', state trials and rulings, the constitution, international treaties, protocols, peace accords, Acts, bills and digests of local newspapers. These publications provide the judiciary with pertinent information on multifarious legal matters. Such information is required to be factual and politically impartial.

The City and District Councils, being quasi-government institutions, provide documents classified as government publications. These include building codes, educational development, health and sanitation, regulations on waste disposal, use of firearms and fire machines. Also there are government departments which provide statistical information on a vast range of economic, industrial and social demographic data. Of central importance are Statistics Sierra Leone (formerly Central Statistics Office-CSO), responsible for national population census and home surveys; the Office of Births and Deaths which registers and produces annual statistics of births and deaths in the country; the Office of the Registrar General responsible for statutory registration of marriages, patents and trademarks; the Chamber of Commerce which specializes on business information. These offices bring together important economic and social statistics supplied by government departments. Other important government departments are the Meteorological Office, which continues to give pertinent weather information, and the National Archives, which serves as repository of all non-current government publications inclusive of national newspapers. The afore-mentioned government publications vary in size and length. Written by experts in the subject, government publications are not only authoritative but also timely published and deal with topics of current interest. Their purpose, according to Katz (1969), is to provide information and answer questions and not to provoke discussion or organizational cataloging and administration. They are useful primary reference sources.

ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN SIERRA LEONE

Academic libraries in Sierra Leone are those in the constituent units that form the country's two universities, namely the University of Sierra Leone and the University of Njala. These libraries represent the bibliographic foundation of the nation's research interest. They participate actively in the distribution and exchange of book and non-book materials to sister institutions all over the country. Collectively these institutions serve students, faculty, scholars and researchers that are engaged in work in the sciences and humanities as well as the general public. These libraries have combined resources of over 500,000 volumes, most of which are of unique scope and quality. Included in these massive collections are government publications such as treaties, Acts, statistical tables and compilations, conventions and records of diplomatic relations, reports of government departments, committees, bureau and commissions, census schedules, proclamations and laws. The maintenance, preservation and development of these publications are responsibilities shared by academic librarians as their libraries continue to serve as national resources.

JUSTIFICATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES

Varied reasons have been advanced for the inclusion of government publications in academic libraries in Sierra Leone. The purposes of the country's universities are teaching, service, research and interpretation and dissemination of research. Society views government as a reliable and impartial source of authoritative information that should be accessible to its citizens through its numerous publications. Since academic institutions deal with students who in turn will be future citizens these should be informed accordingly. Government's stance should be known when there is public discussion on health, international relations, education, agriculture, social security and trade, to cite a few examples. Thus the need for the development of government publications in academic libraries as such materials could speak for the government in varied activities. Further academic libraries have the objectives of preservation, conservation and service. And government publications form part of society's cultural heritage which need conservation and preservation not only for research purposes but also for posterity as tangible primary sources of information which academics can constantly refer to. Little wonder why as a measure of bibliographic control of these publications librarians continue to provide catalog's, checklists, guides, indexes, accessions lists and selected general bibliographies containing substantial information on government publications.

1991-2001 was a period of doom in Sierra Leone as it marked the civil war. Fought as a result of bad governance, nepotism and massive corruption it led to the un-wanton destruction of lives and properties. Essential government buildings0 destroyed to reckless abandon included the National Treasury, Sierra Leone Police premises, law courts and the offices of the Freetown City Council all of which housed important documents constantly consulted by researchers, government functionaries and the public. Not withstanding the country is gradually recovering with the re-establishment of local government, multi-party democracy, improved human, women and child rights, the provision of a conducive atmosphere to investment, and a new system of education (6-3-3-4), to cite but a few developments, the effective operation of which requires constant use of government publications.

The broad programs in academic institutions include many areas of life with the teaching of historical and geographic concepts; scientific studies are undertaken for improved health and food security; international relations and inter-religious understanding are fostered. Also modern community life and the philosophy of democracy, peace and conflict resolution, good governance, human rights and other ideologies are taught in order that intelligent decisions could be drawn. These designed educational programs bring enrichment and information to students in such fields as economics, government, health and sanitation, agriculture, international relations, human rights and diplomacy. In support of these varied disciplines academic libraries provide huge collections to include local materials some of which are in the form of government publications whereby students, faculty and researches could share their experiences and interests and develop satisfactory personal adjustment with regard varied government functionaries in society. By so doing students are provided the opportunity to grow in social usefulness and develop their intellectual interests and capabilities in order to become responsible members of society. This in turn could help promote nationalism. In lieu of these factors academic libraries attempt to provide liberal collections to include books, serial publications, audio-visuals and government publications.

PROBLEMS

Government publications are among the most useful materials in academic libraries in Sierra Leone. Apart from the public library, the national archives and parliament library which serve as repositories for such publications academic libraries continue to develop these publications in their huge collection. However such moves are not bereft of problems. These range from poor formats through lack of trade bibliographies to unsatisfactory methods of distribution. The basic problem to all these libraries is the volume of publications received, much of which is nothing but raw data and statistics used to support arguments or gathered more for the sake of gathering rather than for any specific reasons. Since these libraries have limited space to house their numerous collections the continued acquisition of government publications poses problems to staff.

Academic libraries acquire government publications mainly by donations although a few are acquired by purchase, exchange and photocopy. Once these materials are received they are expected to be processed and organized for use in the library. Sadly there has been no fixed pattern in classifying and organizing these materials in these libraries. Their organization is either by government ministry/department, subject or format which is often confusing to users. At Fourah Bay College library, for example, these publications are placed separately from the general collection which often constrains users in having to leave their reading area to consult these materials with limited sitting accommodation. Libraries at Njala University College, Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMHAS), which are relatively small in size integrate the publications in their general collection thereby posing retrieval problems to users.

Keeping track of government publications is another problem as there are no trade bibliographies printed out to help trace them. Hardly are these publications mentioned in the national bibliography, Sierra Leone Publications, prepared by the public/national library. Besides the Government Printing Department responsible for the production of government publications does not have any comprehensive lists of its publications. Most times these publications are either returned immediately to the respective ministries/departments owning them upon completion or sent to the Government Bookshop for sale or sold by the Government Printing Department upon completion, thus making it difficult to locate retrospective publications. Worse still both the Government Printing Department and the Government Bookshop are not interested in publicizing these publications and as such many customers including academic librarians are not aware of the availability of relevant government publications for acquisition thus causing lapses in the development of these materials in academic libraries. In parallel one would expect academic libraries to compile comprehensive lists of such publications but this has not been the case due to the limited number of staff manning this collection and the quantum of work they have to perform especially during peak periods when libraries are heavily used which is time consuming.

There are also problems of collection development. Academic libraries are under-funded and therefore librarians prioritize their collection development needs. Purchasing government publications has not been a priority for academic librarians as they always look forward to the Government Printing Department for donations which are frequently not forthcoming. Hence many relevant government publications are not found in academic library collections. What is more this limited collection is grossly misused and abused by users (especially undergraduate student users) in their academic pursuits. Thus most of these publications have dingy covers; others have a couple of pages either written on or pilfered while some are intentionally mis-shelved to deprive colleagues of using them.

CONCLUSION

The incorporation of government publications in the mainstream of academic library services should be considered a priority by university authorities and academic librarians in providing access to government-produced information in Sierra Leone. Representing a significant and integral part of the national resources government publications are major sources of information in practically every field of endeavor and are crucial to informed public-decision making. Academic librarians should therefore review their collection development strategies and processing and organization methods of these materials if they are to be persistently used by their numerous clientele. Especial thought should be given to increased funding, resource sharing, compilation of lists and adequate staffing, sitting accommodation and storage space if they are to maintain standards in serving their numerous clientele.

America's Advances & Problems

We live in a great country? When gas prices continue to skyrocket and prices of crude oil drop, The gas companies claim the price of gasoline is rising due to slow manufacturing of refineries. The cost goes up because they have to switch the refineries over to fuel oil. Every little incident causes the prices to rise. Oil companies claim that the majority of our oil comes from other countries and that it is the stress from the economy forcing companies to produce more gasoline. If They could see this coming, why didn't they do anything about it then? Where were all these problems when gas prices were at 79 cents to 1.20 a gallon? They were there, but they didn't effect the cost of gasoline at that time. Blame on the rise of gas prices was put on hurricane Katrina, why didn't those same prices go up when a hurricane hit the gulf in 1981? Gas prices were not terribly effected during the gulf war, at least not that anyone noticed. When the price of crude oil was 30 dollars a barrel the average price of gas was 70 to 80 cents a gallon, the average price of a barrel of crude is 60 dollars today.

So explain to me why the price at the pump is nearly triple what it should be. Because then, there was no extreme lust for more money. It is all new profit for gas companies shrinking the nations' pockets to nothing. You have to ask yourself what they are doing with 40 billion dollars in additional profit every quarter, in the last three years and still don't have any money to build a new refinery. They use some of that money to quiet the politicians that give Americans every excuse for the rising costs. It doesn't matter how much anyone knows or complains, the government and politicians won't do anything because they are all being paid with some of that profit to keep it quiet. 160 billion dollars in profit on top of their normal profit, yet they say it would be futile to build a new refinery in fear of the extreme length of time to build it. All the while, Americans have to struggle to make ends meet just so they can get to and from work. and the CEO of one of those oil companies receives a 400 million dollar bonus. But it's not just the price of gasoline. It is a chain reaction. The prices of everything from food and normal necessities to entertainment, also go up, and there seems to be no end in sight. We fight and struggle everyday deciding what we need to buy just so we can survive, and we continue to wonder Why minimum wage stayed where it was, specifically for the last ten years. Are companies afraid to pay people to work? you wonder why people don't want to work minimum wage jobs, because you cant live on 5.15 an hour, much less fill your tank with 4 hours worth of work.

Our constitution seems to be of no importance to this country anymore either. The supreme court and our government violate it everyday, ignoring laws passed that govern our way of life, yet violate it to allow certain groups of people certain freedoms they should not be entitled to, creating laws that cannot and should not be governed under laws already in existence. But they violate them everyday and no one does anything about it. Politicians will never understand. There has never been anyone in power that didn't come from a wealthy background, so they don't know the meaning of poverty or what it means to live paycheck to paycheck. We continue to elect a group of People, hoping that somewhere inside them is a sense of good conscience. Politicians need to Stop making blank promises and stop talking about fixing something and fix it, especially with the top three, health care, immigration and fuel. Stop fighting everyone else's wars and start doing something helpful for this country instead of useless promises and statements. We would get better results if we elected people that had worked a real job, who had to pay bills and feed their families and didn't fabricate their military history to make themselves look good to voters.

we continue to pass laws that govern and contradict laws already in existence, everything from taxes to race and religion, freedom of this and freedom of that, but when we speak our minds we are branded as traitors or racists. But those with a certain cause to prove are listened to and then, things that have been around for years are changed just because one small group of people are "all of a sudden" offended. These things are instantly changed only because we are so worried about the potential problems that these groups of people can cause. And it's only been going on for a few years, maybe a flag or a symbol. It wasn't until recently that commercials became offensive and required an apology for advertisement. Grow up people, those who lobby for such apologies have already to proven that you are beneath those of us who have lived with these things for years and paid no attention. There are those of us who see things as they are and those who see them as they want them to be and those who feel the need to change everything that they don't agree with or find offensive no matter if it's been around before any of us were born. if you have nothing better to do with your time, claim you are a homosexual and get attention for being different.

Immigration, health care, education, our overall economy, the fact remains that we all continue to walk around blind as a bat with no regards to our future and what the rising cost of everything does to us.

We work with people and we see people everyday that we know are here illegally yet we do nothing. Our own police officers trying to protect our borders from illegal immigration are incarcerated for protecting themselves against armed illegal immigrants. They are granted money for damages for doing something illegal, and they are set free, justice? Are we now at a point where we punish and imprison our own countrymen fighting for our rights and freedoms, unacceptable America. wake up! There are people who look the other way at illegal immigration, the fact is that it destroys our economy with each and every step across the lines, we eventually have to pay more taxes to take care of them, and the cost of everything we pay for, rises. If you did call to report illegal immigrants, (you may have to press 1 for English), you would be branded as a racist, and maybe no one would do anything about it in fear of disturbing the natural course of destroying America, yet those illegals would still get everything that, you, the American, born here, can't or won't get.

We can't go to the hospital for treatment or exams, they make us call our doctor, or practitioner, who we may not even have, who in most cases can't or won't tell you anything and does not have the means to check you at that clinic, but charges you three hundred dollars to tell you he doesn't know what is wrong, and helps the hospitals rack up bills to examine you. Health care needs to be subsidized, as it is in other countries instead of the average family paying 400 dollars a month for health insurance. When one of those family members gets seriously ill, they may find out later that treatment or cures are not covered by their insurance company from a premium that the family can barley afford to pay and it has to come out of their own pocket. How do we justify this treatment of people in our own country, treatment of people who pay their taxes and obey the laws and then get sued by someone who broke into their home and injured themselves trying to rob, rape or kill you. Evaluation is the process of completion yet health care finds a way around all of it just to get more money from taxpayers. All in the land of the free. "When millions of inhabitants of a planet can't get sufficient health care then you know it's too expensive." (Deforest Kelly)

Where did restless leg syndrome come from, and overactive bladders and a growing population of people with high blood pressure. You see it every time you sit down to watch television, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, restless leg syndrome, overactive bladder, insomnia. Then they offer a product that will get rid of that problem, but may give you five others, then tell you the side affects are so bad they could possibly kill you. you receive just enough information about the product being advertised to scare the hell out of you, so you may continually live in fear of having that disorder. so what do they say? "ask your doctor", and in such a dignifying way that assumes we all have a doctor stuffed in our pocket. Not to mention that most products are set up to help someone with a problem they could clearly take care of without medication. Medicine these days, they say, are advanced, but personally I wouldn't want a medicine that helps one thing but gives me five other problems. Maybe these medical problems existed years ago but society learned how to deal with them and lived normal lives. There are all these fantastic ways to help you quit smoking, sleep, lower cholesterol, because we believe we can't do it on our own, so we become dependent on someone or something to get rid of the problem. We rely on drugs and medicines in this country to treat our problems.

We have thrown self treatment right out the window and wonder why health insurance is so expensive. It's expensive because the health care industry wants it to be, mostly because people have abused the right to have health insurance and health care in the past and have made it worse on those who really need it, and sometimes makes it impossible for someone to get help when really needed. there are no real cures, only treatment, and that is what the medical industry wants us to believe and that everything we do and eat is bad for us and later, tell us that things that were once bad are now good and things once good are now bad. They lead us to think there is no real cure except in medicine and turn the entire population of American culture into mindless zombies addicted to the survival package of pointless pharmaceuticals In the field of American advertising by selling us drugs to fix our every little ailment. Medicines and treatment have become such commonplace for advertising as macaroni and Mr. Clean.

Any and all advertisements are out there to make us believe we need everything we see. Some advertising will go so far as to make the public believe they have a problem showing dozens of different symptoms that some people have and convince the public that they need to have treatment, making the public more dependent on drugs.

Your job, is it safe? No matter how secure you think your job is, someone is always looking for a reason to cut back or get someone better, and in some cases you may have been the better one, but don't worry they are already looking to replace you. A good percentage of Americans are not getting the pay they deserve, not so much the pay they want, but it's how they are paid and how they react to their own job description. "that's not my job". If companies pay the minimum amount they will get the minimum work. They want more for less. but yet how does society handle that? They can't because companies control the economy and the wages and we all know you can't live without a paycheck ,so we have no choice. We continue to try, and when we deserve a raise, it's the minimum amount possible just keep the employee quiet for a little longer. Then comes the turnover rate which in this country is extraordinarily high. Why? Because no one wants to pay anyone, and if they do, they have to have an outlandish amount of experience that the applicant does not have and can not get unless they have had that job.

Don't hire someone for two years and teach them the things they need to know and then have the nerve to get rid of them by explaining that they need more experience. This does not bother the employer, they don't care about you, no matter how important you think you are. We are all expendable. The only way to stop this is to show an employee how valuable they are to the company no matter the experience. If someone is willing to do the job pay them in accordance to what they are worth and not what is acceptable by law and perhaps people would show up to work more often and not have such an attitude towards an employer.

When you have tax laws that outweigh the amount of words in the bible you have serious problems with government. A straight tax would do the job. No filing, no deductions, no more waiting for the check in the mail, but I think the IRS enjoys going after people who can't defend themselves. It's the way of our country these days. Destroy those around you, make someone suffer. The IRS will go after someone who made a mistake on their taxes or can't pay on time due to legitimate circumstances, other than going after those who evade taxes for years and never get caught. when the cost of living goes up, They claim the value of your home rises so they can raise the property tax and no one has any choice but to pay it, but when you turn around and try to sell your home, you don't receive the amount of money the taxes say your home is worth. State tax, luxury tax, vehicle tax, sales tax. Step back and see how much of your money goes to taxes and why, they take your paycheck and the money you earn from that is taxed and when you go to the store you are taxed on things you buy, how much more money do they need and why. Since we all pay these taxes I think every one of us is entitled to see exactly where that money goes dollar for dollar, if we are paying for it we need to know who and where it is going to and why.

If social security is for your retirement why is it being handed out to people who don't deserve it even before they have retired? I have seen children as young as 5 years of age reportedly receiving social security. That money is for people who have worked for a living their whole life and just to see someone else get it because of someone else's negligence is appalling. To top it off it is illegal to tax social security a second time, you paid tax on it when it was deducted from your pay, they can't tax it again when you retire, but they do anyway, they never get enough. And why does no one say or do anything about it. We are all too afraid to stand up as a whole and question why. One straight tax, everyone pays 10 percent no more no less, no sales tax, no deductions and no special privileges, and eliminate the IRS, it would save billions of dollars in paperwork and postal alone, not to mention the useless salaries of tax writers and auditors, people who go to school to learn how to take people's money for a living, need to be unemployed for a little while and then see what it means to earn an honest days pay. Don't you just love the USA.

Seventy percent of our population walks around with two dollars in their pockets, and act like they are carrying two hundred. Not to mention that a lot of us are living our life like that of a favorite motion picture character, and have no life of our own. But what it really comes down to is our society's continuing embellishment to be better than our neighbor, of course I assume that's how it's always been. We go and buy the biggest SUV with all the options and frills we can get, then complain about the cost of gas. we buy fancy cars we can't afford and then buy accessories for that car that may make it more dangerous and expensive to drive, huge houses we can only afford to pay the interest on and then can't afford to buy even the most mediocre of furniture to put in that house. We buy cellular phones with so much use, we have no use for them. Good invention or a burden on those to society who want them but cant stand being called, flip that over and you have those who want to be called so they can be seen. And when did it become so important to call someone when you are driving your car, now those are some dangerous people, But you see people talking on them all the time like they have been doing it since they were born and then have to pay a hefty bill each month for useless conversation.

Why do we continually put ourselves in the wake of these insufferable dilemmas of debt, so someone cant take a quick glance and say "look what you have?". We all want the bigger better deal no matter how much it costs or how much debt it puts us in, just so others can see we have it, who cares if we need it or not.

Worried about your children's education? you can be assured they are not learning what they need to learn, and at this rate, probably never will, unless it is done for them. "no child shall be left behind." That's nice to hear in a specified context, but not for our nation's purpose . if the child fails, they don't have to repeat the grade, "it's alright, they'll eventually learn so pass them." Wrong answer. They implement the standards of learning and expect that children will catch on and it'll be fine, but most children can't or won't pass these tests because they can't pass them or won't pass them due to a growing epidemic called laziness, yet we do nothing to change this. children are not learning or retaining the education they need to succeed, when they don't, the blame is placed on the teacher, and the school board does nothing to protect or defend the teachers for the students own failure. So now we have the scapegoat and the continuing problem by placing blame on someone else.

It wasn't until recently that a very good number of children developed problems such as Attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, hyperactivity disorders, slow learning disorders or aggressive behavior. Most likely these are all the biggest excuses as to why the average parent has no time to spend with their children, so they call it a disorder and pawn it off on the education system and turn them into babysitters. When I was growing up no one I knew of had these problems and I wasn't that young to not know the difference. They are all excuses for the idiocy this country has fallen into and follows a continuous list of excuses that is everyone else's fault. Yet we allow our children to play video and computer games, get fat sitting in front of the television, burning brain cells from doing drugs because there is no parental guidance.

College education is no different. We live in a society that is so bent on college education that it makes it nearly impossible for the average student to attend college much less pay for it. Employers rely on hiring college graduates that in some cases are still not fully trained to do the job. A degree doesn't really mean anything anymore, but, where you go to college is what counts, and not so much as what you learned. College tuition is overly expensive and no where near as cost effective as it should be, so you don't get the education you should be getting for the money you spend, unless your only goal in college was to drink and party, and then you graduate not having learned anything useful.

I've seen many people go to college for years, and graduate no smarter than when they started, but now they have a big debt, and no job. But they will get the job before someone that has been in the working world struggling to make a living because they couldn't afford college. And no matter how you say it, its still discrimination when advertisements say that a college graduate earns more than a non graduate. now we have the pedestal.

Some people did not go to college, but over the years they have read many books and gained a lot of knowledge in many areas of study, economy, history, math and English. It is all how you apply yourself to what it is you are interested in and not what is required of you to graduate from college and get a job that you are not really interested in but makes a lot of money so you can have a big house and nice cars, a wife and children. You can now come home and yell at your wife and children because your day was horrible at a job you didn't really want, but hey the money is good. What if you get laid off? Should I go on?

Computers, wonderful invention, you can do so much with them, the internet is great, but does it help our children learn? You can download music you can look up the answers to questions you wanted to know the answers to, you can buy things that you can't buy in the stores, and you can even write papers, book reports and other things without knowing how to write, spell or even indent. Dictionary's and thesaurus' are obsolete as well as the average book, because all you need to do now is look it up online and you have everything you need. That's not learning, thats someone else doing it for you at the click of a button.

We have tried to make everything simpler to do yet it's more difficult to keep track of. We don't write letters anymore, we e-mail, not a bad idea, but when you sit down and put your own hand on paper and someone reads it later, it is much more appreciated. But when is enough enough, it never is, because we are a society of "i want more" .

credit card usage is at an all time high and society continues to put themselves in jeopardy by using them irresponsibly. Yet with no thought of consequence, it's continued in a chain of products and businesses designed to help you get out of debt from credit cards, yet we continue to use credit cards day by day, putting ourselves in more debt. Your credit score? Where did that come from, if not from just the last couple of years, yes there was a credit score years ago, but not a lot of people paid attention to it because they didn't have to worry about it. Many years ago there was no need to understand it. yet they talk of it as if it's been used for years. It has nothing to do with anything, your credit is either good or bad, there is no in between. You have to use a credit card online to get access to use the online credit score feature, convenient, but for who, It's just another long line of subliminal B.S. To make us all feel warm and cozy By knowing how bad our credit is.

Face it, Americans hate Americans, we are always trying take away from people, even if it's someone close to us, we don't care, and no matter how much we love someone we are always trying to show them how better we are than they. so... "it's all about me and me only i am the only one on the planet anyone should care about, so let me go first in line, get out of my way when i am driving 65 miles per hour in a 35 mile an hour zone, so i can get to church and worship god and Jesus, afterwards I will get together with my friends and criticize and insult other people behind their backs then go to Wal Mart and complain because the price was 2 cents cheaper yesterday. While my son or daughter is causing trouble in school, i can blame it on the teacher and school board, I will run the red light and nearly cause an accident that could have hurt someone just so i can get there 14.6 seconds before you. And don't yell at me while i am speeding in my SUV with road rage, and not paying attention to the road, I am trying to talk to my sister on my cell phone because i can and that's my right, and I'll take you to court and sue you for looking at me cross eyed, and all five of my credit cards can't be over the limit i used them yesterday, and yes for your information i am educated i do know my A,B,D's, and don't tell me i don't know where Mount Vernon is, it's the mountain with the president's faces on it in California ,i know my history."

WAKE UP AMERICA. That is you! deny it all you want but if I could spend one day with just half of you, I would show you that 90 percent of you do 90 percent of those things day in and day out. You never accept responsibility for your actions, you act like your the only ones on the planet that are important and everyone else is wrong but you.Go ahead blame the government, they have a big piece of pie for many reasons Americans act the way they do and do the things they do. We are all angry and sometimes we are not even sure why, but we know it's not because of the guy who cut us off in traffic but you blame him anyway. We all need to grow up.

For now, I would like for society to just take a few steps back and look at our world years ago, when all these problems and inventions did not exist, when it didn't take weeks to build a house, when it took only 8 months to build an aircraft carrier, not 12 years( sure you feed me all the petty reasons about the differences between then and now but it won't change the fact that everyone still thinks this country is moving forward.) lets go back a few years, when we didn't feel high and mighty, and we didn't have all the answers, when things were new and interesting, and we didn't have all these extra useless things to run our lives, when we didn't go into a blind rage because we couldn't get on the internet, or get so angry when your cell phone has no signal when you just wanted to call your friend to tell them your day sucked.... those who now rely on these things will tell you its all an improvement and progress, but take all these things from society all at one time and you could guarantee a number of mass suicides. We call this progress and moving forward? I call it personal burden , there was a time when we all couldn't believe we had to put security devices in our homes and cars because of the selfishness and greed of others. we all got along just fine before we had all these things, but when people started using cell phones and computers to enhance communication and friendship because the rest of their life sucked, and when people started murdering others for a pair of shoes, car jacking people and committing identity theft and relying on their race, religion or financial situations to get them out of trouble, and more Americans caused auto accidents by talking on the cell phones, progress shot itself in the foot. Tell me why it is that we need all these things to make for a better world and that nothing is wrong in this country and things shouldn't be changed, I promise, someone can prove you wrong. So welcome to the human race.

Top 4 Problems of Lottery Strategy Programs!

The chances of winning the multi-million dollar Jackpot are very, very slim. Many companies produce and advertise software, guides, and systems that claim to teach people how to predict which numbers will play. If you are laughing hysterically right now please understand that some people actually believe in these things. These advertisements boast that their systems can teach people how to consistently win the Daily 3, the Daily 4, and the Daily 5 numbers as well as the Jackpot. I've seen these kinds of guides or software priced anywhere from twenty dollars to hundred of dollars.

So what's the deal with these lottery strategy programs? Are they just hype or can you follow their directions and hit the lottery? Read on for the truth you must know about lottery strategy programs.

The first problem is recent numbers controversy: Many state lottery systems have been accused of rigging the numbers that play. If the numbers are rigged, how can a program that you bought out of a magazine teach you how to predict which numbers will play and which will not?

The second problem of lottery strategy programs is their unpredictability: Honestly, would you want to base your weekly income on pure chance? The lottery is just a game to be played for entertainment purposes. You'd be lucky to occasionally win $5, $10 every now and then. Also, be aware of gambling addiction. Sometimes we don't know we have an addiction to gambling until it is too late. Take it from me: I've had my fair share of gambling problems in the past. It is not pleasant - trust me. Play the lottery; don't let the lottery play you.

The third problem is winning the lottery is nearly impossible! Buying a lottery strategy system will not enhance your chances anymore than random number play. The Lotto Industry is a business that plays on primal human emotions and near impossible odds. As mentioned above, the chances of you ever winning a million dollars from the lottery are virtually zero. The chances of you getting struck by lightning three times, standing in the exact same spot each time are greater than you winning a million dollars with this thing.

The fourth problem is these programs are insulting to your intelligence: Not much more can be said about these programs. Do not waste your time, money, or mental energy buying one of these stupid things! They flat out do not work.

Conclusion

There have been thousands of people who have fallen victim of lottery strategy scams. People who simply want to earn an extra income from the comfort of their homes find themselves cheated by con artists who take advantage of their hopeful attitudes. There are legitimate companies out there offering real work at home opportunities for those interested. Unfortunately, home based business scams are at an all time high. It has become harder to find legitimate work from home operations. Don't waste your time investing in these silly scams.

Grow up people, those who lobby for such apologies have already to proven that you are beneath those of us who have lived with these things for years and payed no attention.

Where did that come from, if not from just the last couple of years, yes there was a credit score years ago, but not a lot of people payed attention to it because they didn't have to worry about it.
