Tasmania Outdoors

If you are into the great outdoors then visiting Tasmania is just the thing for you. Tasmania quite frankly is considered to be a paradise by many people, and there are good reasons for this. This place is teeming with national parks and each one is a little different from the next one. This means going from one to the next there will be something different to see, as far as the landscape, flora and fauna are concerned. There are 16 national parks in Tasmania, but 2 of them are the most popular and therefore the most visited. These would be Franklin-Gordon national Park and Cradle Mountain National Park. However there are four others worth visiting and they will mentioned in this article.

Franklin-Gordon National Park is also known as Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. This place is listed as a world heritage site and for good reason. The things to see here include mountains and valleys, rainforests and of course rivers. The natural scenery here is nothing short of breathtaking. The two main rivers, Franklin and Gordon are still "wild". This means that no dams have been constructed to tame them. The result is two rivers that offer some of the best white water rafting in the world. It is a wonderful way to see this area and take in the scenery.

Cradle Mountain is perhaps the more famous of the two. There have been Aboriginal settlements in this area for thousands of years. Lake St. Clair and Dove Lake is also located in this area. In fact, the rustic features of Cradle Mountain have come to be the visual representation for Tasmania. Once you reach here there are number of trekking opportunities available from the visitor center of both Cradle Mountain as well as Lake St Clair. The main attraction of this area is its diverse vegetation. A popular trek involves taking a walk to the top of Mt. Rufus. If you are feeling very energetic and adventurous then the trek to do is the 6 day trek called the Overland Track. This one lasts approximately 6 days and is considered to be one of the best nature treks of the world.

Savage River National Park is the next place to go to, especially if you are into hardcore wilderness. This place as the name suggests, is not for the faint of heart. The unique quality of this place is that it is one of the few remaining temperate forests in the world. Bushwalking at this spot is sure to test your mettle. In fact, the recommended way to see this place is by going for a ride in an all terrain vehicle, which are available for rent. The next place on the list is Freycinet National park. This one is located on the east coast and is quite different from some of the other parks, mainly because it is located on coast. There are mountains near by which means you can go for a nice mountain trek or beach walk. Wine Glass bay is located nearby and it is a major wine producing region. This area also has some of the best beaches in the world. The next two national parks worth mentioning are the Walls of Jerusalem National Park and Mount William National Park.

As the region attracts sightseers from all over the world, there are a vast number of options for Tasmania accommodation including hotels, resorts, lodges and villas.

Tasmania hotels are renowned for providing class and elegance whilst still allowing you to enjoy the full experience of the outdoors.
