It seems that almost everyone has a mobile phone these days, particularly as they have now become an integral part of life in modern society. Recycle your phone with Freecycle

Freecycle works on the principle that one man's trash is another man's treasure and of course this is certainly true where mobile phones are concerned. Freecycle is a global network of individual groups run by local volunteers that allows people to post details of what they are offering and also what they are looking for. Basically if you have unwanted goods, like your old mobile phone for example, that could be used by someone else, it allows you to find a home for it. Similarly, if you are looking for something in particular, you may find that it is being offered on Freecycle or you can post a wanted message. The Strada Del Vino (Wine Route) takes you to places where white and red wines were produced from roman times. The red wines produced with pollera, cliegiolo, groppello and merlot wines make excellent starters as well as going well with lamb, roast chicken or local salamis. The valley is full of local restaurants and each and every one of them has their own specialities.

The area is unique and rich cuisine makes the visitor spoilt for choice, especially, if one has time to follow the 'festas', which has its own yearly diary. Starting with January the 16th, the Bonfire for S.Antonio in Filattiera, in February the feast of the chiodo (pork sausage cooked in cast iron baking pans) in April, the onions feast in Bagnone, in June polenta and stock fish in Fivizzano, July brings the focaccetta feast in Olivola di Aulla, bread feast in Regnano, fig feast in Bagnone, Podenzana, the pattona (chestnut pie) and the fungi feast on Mommio di Fivizzano in the autumn season. December wraps it all up with a Bonfire, in Quercia with vin brulé and hot chocolate flowing. Now wonder, that people who keep going back can never have enough of these places!!

But do not get discouraged by the numerous and complex traditions. Make a small list and visit areas each time you return to this special place. Because return, you will! Year after year, once you have tasted the food, drank the wine and enjoyed the colourful processions coupled with laughter well into the night you will never forget it and will yearn to come back year after year.

How Long Do You Honestly Believe it Will Be Before the US and China Go to War?

Currently, the United States is the only world superpower. However, it is believed that before 2050 China will also reach superpower status. Even if China cannot produce 10% year-over-year growth from now until then, if they can cruise along at 5 to 8% growth and until then, the nation should be able to meet that potential goal. China does not need to surpass the United States in GDP to become the next global superpower, as it has already passed all but the two other top nations.

Soon China will have a greater GDP than both Germany, and Japan. Then there will be a large gap and eventually China will surpass the United States in their gross domestic product. Right now, every time the United States makes an enemy in the world because another nation is unethical, violating human rights, or using underhanded methods to seize private enterprise, China goes in and makes a friend. They've done this in Africa, Central America and in the Middle East.

China will do anything, or go anywhere on the globe to get the raw materials, resources, and the oil it needs to continue to grow its economy. Right now, China's growth has been due mostly because the United States middle class has been buying all of their products. They are also looking to European markets to sell them the same amount of their exported products.

The European Union and the United States of America have a similar GDP. If China can get into the EU and sell the same number of products they will be able to double their exported goods over the next 10 years. Unfortunately, there are many conflicts in the world, and we have some trade war issues going on as China violates World Trade Organization rules, one after another. They will also do business with illegitimate and corrupt regimes, unlike the United States.

Previously, the United States would take someone off their trading partner list if they were doing unethical things in the world. Now, the United States can't do that as if they do, China will come in and trade with them. This means enforcement of WTO rules, human rights issues, and other problems in the world cannot be solved through free trade. It's a huge humanitarian crisis.

We have a serious problem going on in the world, and that problem is China. It's time that we address these issues, and realize if there is political impasse in the future as China grows stronger there will be wars over resources. It's a very ugly and unfortunate challenge that lies ahead. I ask that you please consider this, and understand as the future approaches.

In a recent article by Jeff Seigel, he cited a number of responses to a news release outlining General Electric's decision to commit to a Joint Venture with Harbin Power Equipment to build wind generation turbines in China.

I was flabbergasted to read that there are still people on this planet who are living under the illusion of "our patriotic duty" being to horde all business activities within the boundaries of their homeland rather than abroad.

Even President Obama does not seem to wave the "Buy American" flag much anymore.

After all, what is there to buy that is all American, or even completely made in the United States? I will bet you that even your favourite American car or even Harley Davidson motorcycles are not completely made of parts made in the "Good Old US of A".

This type of patriotism died back in the 1980s when US manufacturers set up factories in Mexico, China, Indonesia and other smaller nations with cheap labor. That was the time people should have been voicing their opinions about nationalism.

I remember years ago speaking with an engineer at a pulp mill in a small town in northern Canada. He told me that the unionized staff was going on strike because they were going to have whatever pay raise they wanted and would stay off the job until they got it. Their rationale was that since they were the only pulp mill in town, they could ask for whatever they wanted!

I don't mean to seem insensitive to people's concerns or to disrespect their right to speak out, but I do want to say that everyone, including these people, need to understand that we now live in a world economy. We need to understand that the competition to the pulpmill in Mackenzie, BC is located in Norway.

Almost everything we purchase today is produced somewhere else. In order for your American or Canadian based company to prosper, we all need to support their ambitions and investments in other countries.

The people who provoked Jeff's writing of this article even went more insane when they chided GE for building the turbines in China. If they had read the article further, they would have realized that rather than chastising GE, they should be looking for ways to invest in the project. After all, the turbines were for Chinese use (so they can produce all those great toys you like to have).

The world is changing. It will continue to change. We may want to keep things the way they were and we may even feel fear over losing control of our lives, however, this tide is here and is almost at Tsunami proportions.

Trying to hold on to old concepts of protectionism is just going to leave you behind. With the challenges we are facing in the world economics, we just cannot afford to have one person hanging on to the old ways. After all, this will just leave broke and frustrated people in its wake.

China in particular, but also India, Brazil and several other countries that are becoming the rising stars of world economics need to be in your view. If you are an investor, they must be in your portfolio or you will continue to see your funds slipping away as we have seen for the last two years.

The world is our country. Be proud of where you live and do what you can to make it a better place to live but for your sake and for the sake of the world's economic future hold your hand to your heart and adapt the world as your home!
